Lamppost Pizza & Brewery
A pizza restaurant in a suburban shopping center, expanded into the adjacent retail suite and rebuilt as a 5,000 SF pizza and brewery destination.
The plan keeps a deliberate split. The original side stayed pizza: full gut, new kitchen and hood, 75 seats, a small arcade, new restrooms. The former retail side became the bar and brewhouse — a 17-seat bar with 52 high-tops, brewing vessels visible behind it, and enough screens to make game day the reason people come.
A full-width glass garage door connects the bar to the patio. The patio itself only holds twelve seats, but with the door open it works as an extension of the bar and high-top seating rather than a separate area. We carried the project through building and health department permitting, including new exterior egress with stairs to resolve a grade change.

Restaurant Trends to Watch
In the post-Covid era, customer expectations include outdoor dining areas, now a crucial aspect of restaurant ambiance. The seamless transition from indoor to outdoor spaces presents a distinct design opportunity. Thoughtful consideration of weather protection and seamless patio integration into the overall operation is essential.
Design spaces that transport customers away from the daily grind. Incorporate lush greenery, serene gardens, and thoughtful lighting. Prioritize layouts that enhance guest conversations, defining a floor plan that invites relaxation and a break from the everyday.
Transparency and authenticity in dining are elevated when guests catch a glimpse of their food preparation. While this has been a standard for chef-owner restaurants, showcasing a portion of the cooking process significantly influences how restaurant design integrates with the overall guest experience.
